Tina Tuason and her husband, Jeffrey, have always embraced a playful approach to design. “We love graphic artwork and toys,” Tina shares. Three years ago, they purchased Jeffrey’s childhood home in Lakewood, California, from his parents, and began transforming it into a vibrant, colorful space that reflects their personalities. LIVING ROOM

On the multicolored sofa: This sofa is available in several colorways. Initially, I planned to order the beige version, thinking a neutral couch would make it easier to decorate around. But it was sold out. My husband suggested the blue and green option, and at first, I worried it might feel overwhelming. As soon as it arrived, though, I absolutely loved it.

On creating an inviting living room: We have two living rooms, and this one is reserved for gatherings with friends and family. It’s the first space you see when you walk in, so I wanted it to feel cozy and inviting for guests.
On a mobile TV: Our rolling TV stand is a revelation. When my nephews visit, we can make a comfy spot for them to watch their shows, and when we want to tuck it away, it easily rolls into the garage.

On clever shoe storage: The entryway proved to be the toughest area. I needed somewhere to stash shoes, but also wanted it to feel inviting, not like a storage area. I eventually found this console table at Ikea—it wasn’t designed for shoes, but it does the job perfectly!
